¶ History:The first Saltbloods settled in the Bell Lands, because of a deal. The First Bell Ringer Crusade did not have enough wealth to pay for passage for all their armies. The Saltblood captains gave the Crusaders a deal, they would transport as many men, women and supplies they could until the Crusade was won. Then they would gain 100 square miles of land for every shipment the Saltbloods transported for free. With the crown not even warm on Ethan Sedi's head, the Saltblood's came calling. Panuk Almirn was their speaker, and he came with a train of servants, each carried the captain's log where a Bell Ringer crusader had called upon the pact and gave his mark. Ethan Sedi thanked him for the records, and said he would meet with his council to disperse the land. Once they were behind closed doors, the council erupted. They had just finished a war that had taken them 60 years. The blood spilled of the Quintills, Zafroff, Paltris and Ferdors for every inch of land was now to be given away, To heretics? Ethan Sedi, heard each of their pleas and kept silent. After the council had talked it self quiet he stood. In a famous speech he said he would cut the fish in half, he would make the councils problems the Saltbloods, By making them nobles. The final deal he made with Panuk Almern was he would give 50 miles for every passage but he would also ennoble him to a Duke, letting him give title and reward to the other Saltbloods. The fact they did not fight for the land in the Bellringers name still has many shun them, but they have been loyal to the empire, these many centuries.
