History:
House Henge was the original noble house that controlled the eastern coast. Over the years the pirate raids made them lose increasingly more power and reputation. Being a land power, Henge was ill equipped to beat back House Ramirez (later House Silverridge). Faced with the choice of losing their lands and their titles they instead submitted to House Ramirez,. For many years that was their connection to the greater nobility of the Bell Lands.
When Duke Andrew Silverridge was assassinated, the investigation found proof that the assassin was hired by Count Jabari Henge. House Silverridge sent knights to Faemill to capture Count Jabari Henge. He was taken back to Windbreak, and put under trial. He lost the trial after the betrayal of his own assistant. Countess Taileflaith Henge came to Windbreak and begged for mercy. They Silverridges agreed, on the condition that she would drink poison. In exchange her line would be allowed to live. She drank it with honor. However, the "poison" was just a colored wine, as a final test of honor, to see if she would fight the ruling. House Silverridge then demoted House Henge to a Baron title.
Their horses are slow but are very very strong. While they are not great for tournaments, every decade or so there is one that is born with uncanny speed and strength. The latest great horse was born four years ago. Known as Red Fox, it was bought by an imperial delegation, and it is currently serving somewhere in House Rivers men.
After many years of minor conflicts, a member of House Henge married into the House of Silverridge, and a daughter was born. Siobhán Silverridge, raised in the courts of Windbreak, became a noble woman who, even though touched by violence, had a burning desire to have a place in this world. During the convocation of Mistwick she met the older Duke Timothy Whitestar. They started a relationship, and after the Saffron War they married. However, with this marriage backroom deals were made that would move her ancient family from their homes into her new domain of Whitestar.
Siobhán's marriage to Duke Timothy Whitestar was not just a union of two people, but also a union of two powerful houses. The Silverridge family, a duchy in their own right, had been a force to reckon with in the courts of the Bell Lands. The Henge family, on the other hand, had a reputation of classic nobility. Together, they formed a formidable alliance that would change the course of history.
The marriage between Siobhán and Duke Timothy was not without its challenges for House Henge. There were still hurt feelings at the loss of their ancestral home. But with a relative in the highest of titles in the land, they at least knew their interests had some support. Siobhán, however, was not content with just being a noblewoman. She desired to make a name for herself and to leave a lasting legacy. Siobhán’s ambition did not go unnoticed. Even before her maturity she was called the “Princess of the East”, a title that harkens back to old glories. Her intelligence, wit, and charm made her a force to be reckoned with in the courts of the Bell Lands. She was also a fierce defender of the downtrodden. Even with this change does not come easily in the East, and as many called for her support, just as many have felt her a usurper.
