¶ History:¶ YouthCasimir Remirez was born to Ana, a whore in one of the many brothels Connor Silverridge frequented at the Guild of Silk at Icehaven. When he was born she hoped he would be acknowledged, but instead received hush money. Raised by his mother, Casimir never knew his father. Ana raised him to believe that the only way to survive in the world was through hard work, and that everything needed to be earned and taken by one’s own efforts. He took this to heart, and it still guides him today. As a child he got into a number of fights with other youths. Eventually Ana used the payoff money, along with her earnings and influence through clients, was to acquire him a warrior’s training. His one real friend was Penelope, another child of a brothel worker. They grew up close, and when they were teenagers became lovers, though they knew that nothing permenant could come of this, given Penelope soon joining her mother in working at the brothel. They maintained their friendship as Penelope's renown grew, becoming known as Penelope the Peach. When Casimir was 17, he joined the local guards. He soon grew frustrated of the constant upholding of nobility's interests over people like his mother and Penelope, as well as being looked down on as a "bastard whoreson." ¶ AdulthoodAfter two years he joined the Crusades as the best chance to gain power and glory denied to him due to his birth. At first he was not as motivated by the religious elements but he soon embraced the importance of the Bell in the fight against the Mikado. His mind for tactics was noticed and he was recruited as sergeant in the company of Captain Louis de Flours. ¶ CaptainHe was well liked by his common troops, who have far more in common with his low birth than most commanders. Casimir's hatred and brutality towards the Mikado made him stand out even among the Crusaders. He gathered a troop of loyal men, known as the Hungry Wolves, after his personal sigil of a golden wolf. Diego commanded the wolves, while the young orphan Pavel served as Casimir's squire. ¶ Returning HomeThough he has a dislike of his absentee father, Casimir dreamed of conquering Mikado land and receiving a noble house the way his ancestor Emer Ramirez did. But all too often the battles of the Crusades amounted to raids and constant push and pull of advance and retreat, with little true land gained. After a decade of fighting, he has started to get frustrated over the lack of real success against his hated enemy despite his efforts and sacrifice. Perhaps the rumor of a rising threat in the mainland will offer a new opportunity for advacement, and proper recognition. ¶ Silverridge and DurandUpon his return to the mainland, Casimir was quickly swept up in family politics. Struggling to adjust to to his newly found family, Casimir is especially uncomfortable with the non-orthodox religious beliefs of most of his family. Thankfully, a loyal corps of his soldiers joined him, known as The Hungry Wolves left the Crusader army to follow his lead in his new position. Long frustrated by his lower status, Casimir found his path to nobility by championing the cause of Penelope Durand. After winning a deadly duel to protect her title, they married. She is doing her best to educate him on how to behave in his new station, while he worries about the political and military position of their lands. Casimir served as a General in the Crusader army facing the Saffron Society under his father Conner Silverridge. He still struggles relating with his extended family, especially the percieved heretical beliefs of Soverighn Ides Lev Tarasovich, and the attitudes of his non-warrior relatives. |
